Want a Taste of My Soup?

Granted, it’s too early to show you exactly what I’ve done with these beautiful beads from my new friend Sandi James, but I wanted to give you an opportunity to drool over the lovely selection she gave me to work with for our upcoming Bead Soup Party. The big reveal starts next weekend, so we all have to wait until then to share our finished projects, but I’m only too happy to talk about how smitten I am with Sandi’s exotic focal beads.

As you can see, they contain beautiful swirls of black, white and brick red on top of a neutral layer which has a slight opacity that my camera just couldn’t quite capture. To top it off, they have just a touch of gold foil layered inside them … they are so full of rich colors, but they’re remarkably understated, too. And I love how light they are despite their relatively large size.

Maybe it’s because I know Sandi lives in California, or maybe this is where I just go off the deep end in the sort of imagery my brain can create, but there’s something about these beads that feels very glamorous and “Old Hollywood” to me — like the colors you’d find in a dark and swanky Asian/Art Deco restaurant … did I lose you with that one? Well, maybe when you see my finished creation it will make more sense.

And while I’m itching to show you what I’ve made, I’m just as eager to see what Sandi does with the little selection of things I sent her … Here’s a snapshot of the items she has to work with …. Stay tuned, folks — this is going to be a heck of a ride!

I love both of the soups. I especially like the pendant you sent her. I’m glad I found your blog through the bead soup party.
